  • KPF Future Colleague Award

    The KPF Future Colleague Award supports undergraduate psychology students who aspire to further their education in psychology by attending a graduate program. We understand that the journey to graduate school can be financially challenging - this award aims to ease the burden of application-related expenses, empowering deserving students to pursue their dreams of a psychology graduate program and contribute to a more inclusive and diverse field of psychology.

    KPF is particularly dedicated to uplifting future psychologists who embody identities historically excluded from psychology training programs. We strongly encourage applications from Black, Indigenous, and people of color; women; people living with disabilities; LGBTQIA+ individuals; and neurodivergent individuals. Your unique perspectives are invaluable, and we want to help you bring your voice to the field of psychology.

    Applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Be an undergraduate student or post-baccalaureate
    • Have a current college GPA of 3.0 or higher*
    • Demonstrate community involvement, volunteer work, and/or leadership experience

    Candidates must submit:

    • A cover letter
    • 2-page essay that highlights the applicant's characteristics and accomplishments, including:
      • Primary career interests
      • Volunteer and community work
      • Plans and goals related to the field of psychology
      • How this award will assist in applying for graduate school in psychology

    Selection Process:

    Recipients will be chosen based on the content of their application essay, commitment to pursuing a career in psychology, and their dedication to and involvement in making a positive impact in their communities.

    Impact Reporting:

    Winners are required to submit a brief letter explaining how the funds were utilized and how they contributed to the goals stated in their application by July 1st, 2025. This reflection helps us understand the profound difference the award has made in your professional journey and allows us to share your inspiring success stories with our community.

    By supporting these students, we are investing in their individual futures and the future of psychology. Together, we can make psychology a field that truly represents and serves everyone in Kentucky, creating a brighter, more inclusive place for all.

  • KPF Kniffley ECP Award

    The Kniffley Early Career Psychologist Award is dedicated to supporting early career psychology professionals who are on the path to becoming licensed in Kentucky. Our mission is to foster a diverse and inclusive community of psychologists in Kentucky, and this award is a vital step toward achieving that goal. We understand the challenges faced by early career professionals and are here to offer compassionate support as you take these important steps in your career. By helping to remove financial barriers, we hope to empower you to contribute your unique voice and perspective to the psychology profession.

    We are particularly committed to advancing diversity within the field by prioritizing applicants who represent identities historically underrepresented in psychology. This includes, but is not limited to, individuals who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), as well as those from other marginalized communities. We believe that a diverse range of perspectives enriches the field and enhances the care provided to all clients.

    The Kniffley Award provides essential financial support to ease the journey toward licensure. Award funds can be used for:

    • Transitioning to full licensure, including associated fees
    • Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) fees
    • Travel costs for licensure-related activities
    • Any other expenses related to becoming a licensed psychologist in Kentucky

    Applicants must submit:

    • A 1 page essay describing your career goals in Kentucky and information on how this award will help in your transition to licensure and any community involvement, volunteer work, or leadership experience
    • Graduate Program transcript

    Selection Process:

    A selection committee will choose award recipients based on the following:

    • Intention to apply for licensure in Kentucky as either a Licensed Clinical Psychologist OR Licensed Psychological Practitioner
    • Graduate transcript
    • Community involvement, volunteer, and/or leadership experience
    • Essay Content

The Equity in Action Professional Development and Student Development Awards are designed to help aspiring and current psychology professionals from historically underrepresented groups access crucial professional development opportunities. By providing financial support for initiatives, training, conferences, events, or membership dues to national professional organizations, we aim to empower these individuals to achieve their fullest potential and bring their invaluable perspectives to the field of Kentucky psychology.

    Application Requirements and Criteria:

    Qualified applicants are psychologists working or living in Kentucky. We strongly encourage applications from individuals who embody identities historically excluded from psychology training, including Black, Indigenous, and people of color; people living with disabilities; LGBTQIA+ individuals; and neurodivergent individuals. These voices are essential to creating a more inclusive and empathetic mental health care environment.
